Meteorological rocket

A small, unguided rocket designed to carry meteorological instruments, such as radiosondes or chaff, into the upper atmosphere (typically 30-100 km altitude) to measure temperature, pressure, and wind profiles. These rockets provide data from altitudes above those reached by weather balloons and below those of satellites. They are launched from specialized rocketsonde stations.
