Sodium

A highly reactive alkali metal, chemical symbol Na, that exists in the atmosphere primarily as sodium chloride (NaCl) particles, originating from sea spray. These particles act as cloud condensation nuclei, influencing cloud formation and precipitation processes. Sodium is also a component of atmospheric aerosols and can be detected in rainwater.
