Ammonium sulfate
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003478
A chemical compound with the formula (NH4)2SO4, which is a common component of atmospheric aerosols. It forms through the reaction of ammonia with sulfuric acid, often originating from sulfur dioxide emissions. This salt is highly hygroscopic and acts as an efficient cloud condensation nucleus, influencing cloud microphysics and radiative forcing.
