Ammonium chloride
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003475
A white, crystalline salt with the chemical formula NH4Cl, formed from the reaction of ammonia and hydrochloric acid. In the atmosphere, it can form as a particulate matter through the reaction of gaseous ammonia with acidic species like hydrogen chloride. Ammonium chloride contributes to aerosol formation and can impact air quality and visibility, particularly in polluted environments.
