Methyl chloride

A halocarbon compound, also known as chloromethane, that is the most abundant naturally occurring organochlorine in the atmosphere. It is primarily emitted from biomass burning and oceanic sources. Methyl chloride is a greenhouse gas and a carrier of chlorine to the stratosphere, where it contributes to ozone depletion.
