Methyl iodide

An organic compound with the chemical formula CH3I, also known as iodomethane. It is a naturally occurring halocarbon produced primarily by marine organisms and is a source of atmospheric iodine. Methyl iodide has a relatively short atmospheric lifetime, typically on the order of days to weeks.
