Subarctic Intermediate Water

A distinct water mass found in the North Pacific Ocean, characterized by relatively low salinity and temperature. It forms in the subarctic region through cooling and freshening processes and then spreads southward at intermediate depths. This water mass contributes to the stratification and circulation patterns of the North Pacific.
