Super pressure balloon
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009396
A type of scientific balloon designed to maintain a constant altitude in the stratosphere for extended periods. Unlike conventional balloons that vent gas to descend, super pressure balloons are sealed and become rigid when fully inflated, allowing them to withstand internal pressure changes due to temperature variations. These balloons are used for long-duration atmospheric research, carrying payloads for weeks or months.
