Kytoon
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006824
A tethered aircraft that combines characteristics of both a kite and a balloon, designed to remain stable in the air for extended periods. It uses aerodynamic lift from its kite-like shape and buoyancy from an internal gas, usually helium, to maintain altitude. Kytoons are employed for meteorological observations, carrying instruments aloft to measure atmospheric conditions at different heights.
