Ballonet
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010393
An internal, air-filled compartment within the envelope of a non-rigid airship or balloon. It is used to control the buoyancy and maintain the shape of the airship by adjusting the volume of air inside. Air is pumped into or out of the ballonet to compensate for changes in the volume of the lifting gas due to temperature or altitude variations.
