Supernumerary rainbows

Faint, colored bands that appear on the inner edge of a primary rainbow or the outer edge of a secondary rainbow. These additional arcs are caused by the interference of light waves that have traveled slightly different paths through the raindrops. Supernumerary rainbows are most noticeable when the raindrops are uniform in size.
