Supersaturation
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009414
A condition in the atmosphere where the relative humidity exceeds 100 percent, meaning the air contains more water vapor than it can theoretically hold at a given temperature and pressure. This state is unstable and typically leads to condensation or deposition of water vapor into liquid droplets or ice crystals. Supersaturation is a prerequisite for cloud formation.
