Supersonic

Describing a speed that is greater than the speed of sound in the surrounding medium. In the atmosphere, the speed of sound varies with temperature, typically around 343 meters per second (767 miles per hour) at sea level. Aircraft traveling at supersonic speeds create a shock wave, which is heard as a sonic boom.
