Temperature-salinity diagram
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010809
A graph used in oceanography to plot water temperature against salinity, also known as a T-S diagram. Each point on the diagram represents a water sample with a specific temperature and salinity, allowing oceanographers to identify and trace different water masses as they move through the ocean. Lines of constant density, called isopycnals, are superimposed on the diagram to analyze water column stability.
