Temperature-sensing element

The component of a thermometer or temperature sensor that directly interacts with the environment and undergoes a physical change in response to temperature variations. This change is then converted into a measurable signal. Examples include the bimetallic strip in a dial thermometer or the thermistor in an electronic sensor.
