Carbon-film hygrometer element
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004172
A sensor component used to measure atmospheric humidity, consisting of a thin film of carbon particles suspended in a hygroscopic binder on a substrate. As the element absorbs or releases water vapor, its electrical resistance changes in a way that can be calibrated to relative humidity. This type of sensor is widely used in radiosondes for upper-air soundings because of its rapid response time and low cost.
