Θ system
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009570
A shorthand reference for the potential temperature (Θ) coordinate system, which employs potential temperature as the vertical coordinate in atmospheric models and analyses. This system is advantageous for visualizing and understanding adiabatic motions, as air parcels conserve their potential temperature when moving along these surfaces. It is widely used in isentropic analysis of atmospheric flow.
