Turbopause
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009838
The level in the atmosphere, near 100 to 110 kilometers above the surface, below which turbulent mixing keeps the gases uniformly mixed and above which molecular diffusion dominates. Beneath it lies the homosphere, also called the turbosphere, and above it lies the heterosphere, where each gas settles according to its own molecular mass, so lighter gases dominate with height. Its height changes with season and solar activity.
