Turner angle

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009851

A meteorological parameter used to classify atmospheric stability based on temperature and dew point profiles. It is calculated from the difference between the 850 hPa temperature and the 500 hPa temperature, and the 850 hPa dew point depression. A smaller Turner angle indicates greater atmospheric instability and potential for convection.
