Vacuum-tube electrometer
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009937
An instrument designed to measure extremely small electrical currents or voltages, particularly those generated by atmospheric electricity. It operates by amplifying weak signals using vacuum tubes, which have high input impedance and low noise characteristics. These devices were historically used for precise measurements of atmospheric potential gradient and ion concentrations before the advent of solid-state electronics.
