Cathode-ray tube
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004200
A vacuum tube containing an electron gun that emits a beam of electrons, which are then deflected and accelerated towards a phosphorescent screen to create an image. Historically, these tubes were widely used in radar displays for weather surveillance, allowing meteorologists to visualize precipitation patterns. Modern weather displays have largely replaced CRTs with flat-panel technologies.
