Water vapor winds

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010124

Atmospheric motion inferred from the movement of water vapor features observed in satellite imagery, particularly in the infrared and microwave spectral bands. These winds provide valuable data for numerical weather prediction models, especially over data-sparse oceanic regions. They are derived by tracking patterns in water vapor radiance.
