Weather glass

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010173

An early type of barometer consisting of a sealed glass container with a long, narrow spout that is open to the atmosphere. The water level in the spout rises when atmospheric pressure increases and falls when it decreases, indicating changes in the weather. While visually appealing, these instruments are also sensitive to temperature changes, making them less accurate than mercury or aneroid barometers.
