Weber number

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010192

A dimensionless quantity in fluid dynamics that represents the ratio of inertial forces to surface tension forces. It is particularly relevant in situations involving the interaction of fluids with free surfaces or interfaces, such as droplet formation or bubble dynamics. A high Weber number indicates that inertial forces dominate, leading to droplet breakup.
