Zeldovich mechanism
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010314
A chemical pathway for the formation of nitrogen oxides (NOx) at high temperatures, particularly in combustion processes. It involves the reaction of atmospheric nitrogen and oxygen, primarily through the dissociation of N2 and O2 molecules. This mechanism is a major contributor to air pollution from engines and power plants.
