Analog
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000115
A geological formation or reservoir that shares similar characteristics, such as depositional environment, rock type, or structural style, with a target reservoir being studied. Analogs provide valuable insights into reservoir architecture, heterogeneity, and fluid flow behavior when direct data from the target reservoir is sparse. Outcrop analogs are often used to visualize subsurface features.
