Heterogeneity

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004352

The condition of having spatially variable properties within a rock formation or reservoir, such as permeability, porosity, or lithology. This variability influences fluid flow paths and recovery efficiency in hydrocarbon reservoirs. Heterogeneity is a key factor in reservoir characterization and simulation, often quantified by statistical measures or geological models.
