Authigenic

Describing minerals or other constituents that formed in place within a sedimentary rock or sediment after its deposition. These minerals precipitate from pore fluids and are not transported from an external source. Examples include authigenic quartz overgrowths, cements, and some clay minerals, which can affect reservoir quality.
