Siliciclastic sediment
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003414
Sedimentary particles derived from the mechanical weathering of pre-existing rocks, composed primarily of silicate minerals like quartz and feldspar. These sediments are transported and deposited by physical processes such as water, wind, or ice. Common examples include sand, silt, and clay, which form sandstone, siltstone, and shale reservoir rocks.
