Silt

Fine-grained clastic sediment with particle sizes between clay and sand, often found suspended in drilling fluids or as a component of reservoir rocks. It consists of quartz, feldspar, and mica, and can affect fluid loss and filter cake properties in drilling operations. Silt particles range from 0.0039 to 0.0625 millimeters in diameter.
