Silt
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013556
Fine-grained particulate matter, larger than clay but smaller than sand, typically found in soil and sediment. Silt particles range in size from 0.002 mm to 0.05 mm in diameter. It contributes to soil fertility and water retention, but excessive silt can lead to turbidity in aquatic environments.
