Loose, unconsolidated fragments of rock, minerals, or organic matter that have been weathered and eroded from pre-existing materials. This material is transported by natural agents like water, wind, or ice and eventually deposited to form sedimentary rocks. Detritus forms the primary component of clastic sedimentary reservoirs.
