Tuffaceaous

Describing a rock or sediment that contains a substantial proportion of volcanic ash or tuff fragments. These materials are formed from explosive volcanic eruptions and can be transported and deposited by wind or water. Tuffaceous sandstones or shales are common in basins adjacent to volcanic arcs.
