Volcano
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004062
A vent in the Earth's crust through which molten rock (magma), ash, and gases erupt from the interior onto the surface. Volcanoes are typically cone-shaped mountains or hills formed by the accumulation of erupted materials. While not direct hydrocarbon reservoirs, volcanic activity can influence the formation and preservation of petroleum systems through heat flow and structural deformation.
