Balanced plug
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000257
A cement plug placed in a wellbore where the hydrostatic pressure of the cement column is equalized with the hydrostatic pressure of the fluid it displaces. This technique minimizes the risk of fluid migration or U-tubing during placement. It is often used for zonal isolation or to abandon a section of the well.
