Blow out

The uncontrolled release of formation fluids, such as oil, gas, or water, from a wellbore to the surface. This event occurs when the pressure exerted by the formation exceeds the hydrostatic pressure of the drilling fluid column. Blowouts pose severe risks to personnel, equipment, and the environment, often leading to fires or explosions.
