Cataclastic
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000586
Describing the process of rock deformation involving brittle fracturing and crushing of mineral grains, typically occurring at shallow crustal depths and low temperatures. This process results in the formation of fault breccias and cataclasites. Cataclastic deformation can significantly alter the porosity and permeability of reservoir rocks.
