Clean
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000694
Describing a rock formation or reservoir interval that contains minimal or no clay or shale content. A clean sand, for example, is composed almost entirely of quartz grains with little to no fine-grained matrix. This characteristic is favorable for hydrocarbon production as it indicates higher porosity and permeability, leading to better fluid flow.
