Datum correction
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000957
A set of adjustments applied to raw seismic or gravity data to remove the effects of elevation and near-surface variations, effectively shifting all measurements to a single horizontal reference plane. The correction accounts for the time seismic waves spend traveling through the low-velocity weathered layer and for elevation differences between source and receiver stations. This process uses a replacement velocity to mathematically substitute the material between the surface and the datum.
