Correcting pressure to a datum

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000862

The process of adjusting measured downhole pressures to a common reference depth, or datum, to account for the hydrostatic pressure exerted by the fluid column in the wellbore. This adjustment allows for direct comparison of pressures measured at different depths or at different times. The correction involves adding or subtracting the pressure exerted by the fluid column between the measurement point and the datum, calculated using fluid density and gravity.
