Departure curve

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001000

A set of charts used to correct raw well log measurements for environmental effects that distort the tool's reading. These corrections account for factors such as borehole diameter, mud resistivity, mudcake thickness, and temperature, which differ from the conditions under which the tool was calibrated. Modern logging software automatically applies these corrections, contrasting with older practices that required manual lookup and application of the charts.
