Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001140
A sedimentary rock primarily composed of the mineral dolomite, containing at least 50% dolomite by weight. It forms through the dolomitization of limestone, where magnesium replaces calcium in the original carbonate structure. Dolostone can serve as an effective reservoir rock for hydrocarbons due to its porosity and permeability characteristics.
