Dolomite

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004292

A carbonate mineral composed of calcium magnesium carbonate, CaMg(CO3)2, or a sedimentary rock primarily made of this mineral. Dolomite reservoirs are common in many oil and gas producing regions, often exhibiting good porosity and permeability due to diagenetic processes. It is harder and less soluble than calcite, which is the main component of limestone.
