Dogleg

An abrupt change in the direction or inclination of a wellbore, creating a bend or curve in the drilled path. This change can be intentional, as part of a planned directional drilling program, or unintentional, resulting from drilling difficulties or formation characteristics. Excessive doglegs can cause problems with pipe sticking, casing wear, and difficulties in running downhole tools.
