Dump bailer

A wireline-conveyed tool used to deliver cement, sand, or other granular materials to a specific depth in a wellbore. It consists of a long tube with a release mechanism at the bottom, which opens to discharge its contents upon impact or activation. Dump bailers are employed for setting cement plugs, filling perforations, or placing gravel packs in situations where coiled tubing or pumping units are not feasible.
