Frac fluid

A mixture of water, proppant, and chemical additives injected into a wellbore at high pressure to create and maintain fractures in the reservoir rock. The proppant, usually sand or ceramic beads, holds these fractures open after the injection pressure is released. Common additives include friction reducers, gelling agents, and biocides.
