Frac gun
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001556
A perforating gun system loaded with charges chosen to make uniform entrance holes at a modest number of perforations per foot, for wells that will be hydraulically fractured. The consistent hole size keeps pressure loss through the perforations low, so fracturing fluid and proppant can be pumped at high rate. Frac guns serve slimhole, sand control and coalbed methane completions as well as conventional fracturing treatments.
