Fracturing fluid
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001574
A specialized fluid, typically water-based with additives, injected into a wellbore at high pressure to create or extend fractures in a reservoir rock during hydraulic fracturing. These fluids carry proppant into the fractures to keep them open after the pressure is released. Common additives include gelling agents, friction reducers, and biocides.
