Fractured-well analysis

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001573

The interpretation of pressure transient data from a well that has been hydraulically fractured to determine key properties of the fracture and the surrounding reservoir. The analysis aims to quantify parameters such as fracture half-length, fracture conductivity, and formation permeability by matching pressure responses to analytical or numerical models. Diagnostic plots, particularly the pressure derivative, are used to identify flow regimes like linear flow and bilinear flow that are characteristic of fractured wells.
