Finite-conductivity fracture

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001423

A hydraulic fracture that offers resistance to fluid flow from the reservoir into the wellbore due to its limited ability to conduct fluids. The pressure drop within the fracture itself is not negligible, meaning the pressure at the fracture face is higher than the pressure at the wellbore. This type of fracture is characterized by a finite fracture conductivity, which is the product of fracture permeability and fracture width.
